Hybrid Nanoparticles for Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Target-Specific Viral Gene Delivery
Adv. Mater., 19 (20), 3109-3112
Date: Oct 19, 2007

The inside cover displays multifunctional “adenovirus‐magnet” nanoparticles possessing target‐specific infection, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and gene expression capabilities. These hybrid nanoparticles, reported by Jin‐Suck Suh, Jinwoo Cheon, and co‐workers on p. 3109 in the Special Section on Bionanotechnology, selectively target the Coxsackievirus B adenovirus receptor (CAR)‐positive cells and deliver the gene of enhanced green fluorescent protein (eGFP), while simultaneously being imaged by MRI. These hybrid nanoparticles can be regarded as new probes for in vivo MRI tracking of targeted viral gene delivery, which is essential for next‐generation diagnostics and therapeutics.
